The sister of the Road Runner in terms of OEM optioning, the 1969 Super Bee offered here is the result of a 4,000-hour, comprehensive, no-expense-spared, nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration and more power. A new 426 CI Hemi V-8 engine built by Best Machine now resides under the hood. This features the carburetor-covering chrome dome air cleaner, electronic ignition, dual exhaust ending in chrome tips and a CVF 8-rib serpentine accessory drive kit.The engine's cooled by dual electric fans, and inside is a Comp Cams camshaft and matched High Energy hydraulic lifters, while an Avon Pro Gear timing chain keeps it in synch with the cut and polished crankshaft. Diamond 9.3:1 compression Hemi pistons are down in the 4.255 bores, with a Melling M63HV BB Mopar oil pump, Clevite rod bearings and Total Seal rings keeping everything tight and right within the race-balanced rotating assembly. The heads feature cut valve guides for performance seals and hardened exhaust seats. This is backed by a TorqueFlite automatic transmission, with the engine installation using a correct Hemi K-frame member, core support and leaf springs, where a new Dana rear differential with 3.55 Moser axles is mounted. A Wilwood disc brake kit in front and rear featuring red calipers is on this car as well.The exterior wears classic B5 Blue with a matching blue vinyl Legendary interior. That interior includes air conditioning, a dash with a clock and 150 MPH speedometer, a column-mounted Sun tachometer, a thumbwheel radio and new NOS glass throughout. The outside is highlighted by a white Super Bee-logo scat stripe, dual outside mirrors, Hemi and Super Bee chrome tags, and hood trim. This Super Bee now rides on billet Schott wheels, 20x8.5-inch fronts and 20x12 rears, with narrow-sidewall redline tires completing the look. It might no longer be that budget beast of yore, but this built-up, Hemi-powered ‘Bee certainly defines the word Super.
